Artist Statement: I personally love this image, the detail in my dog's fur, the depth in her eyes, the contrast between her and her background all are elements as to why this works as a well composed image. Even though expressions are a type of human communication, this image you get a sense of an expression, and or thoughts displayed in her eyes. You Can connect with this image seamlessly, building that bond between audience and subject.

Capturing a honest expression which truly showcases what a subject is feeling can be a difficult process. Features change in a way naturally that they would not when forced or staged. When taking an image like this when I have a set out goal for what i want my subject to do. I attempt to put them into the mind setting I want. In the case of this image I inspired her smile with an arrangement of inappropriate jokes, and or sounds. Taking a few shots it's all about the instant it takes for the right image to be captured.

In my perspective, anyone can produce an interesting photograph, it's all about angles, moments, and opportunities that are given or taken.  Personally how I go about taking photographs is I come across an interesting subject that can other be captured or manipulated and I understand to take hold of my opportunity and capture the image given. Photography is all about seizing the moment, preserving a single instant forever. My sense of a theme is black and white, I like the simplicity of it as well as keeping all my images relating to one another.
